We are asking for everyone's assistance in getting this message circulated world wide ASAP so that all who choose will be able to participate on Nov. 11th at 11:00AM. in their own time zone. The intention of 11.11:11 is for a wave of vibration created through sound to travel across the planet. This vibrational wave will carry forth our highest intention for love, peace and balance for all that exists on our planet. Each person "wherever you are on Nov. 11th at 11:00 a.m. (11.11:11)" will participate in their own time zone, thus creating this magnificent wave of intentional sound for peace/balance. The purpose is to have the vibration of SOUND go out around the Planet to break away the last pieces of the old vibration of discord and separation and to bring in more fully and activate more completely the frequencies for LOVE, PEACE AND BALANCE . Jahn Starr was given a vision of a huge group of Angels over Afghanistan assisting everyone to be Love and Peace and then the same vision was repeated for the U.S. and then again for the whole world. Just as we lit candles for all those who gave their lives and their loved ones and their service on Sept 11th, we are now being asked to bring in the vibration of sound, for it is the vibrations of sound ( the Word) and Light(The Creator energies, the Christ energies), that will help to heal this Planet and all beings on her. Wherever you are on Nov. 11th at 11:00AM(11-11-11) please ring a bell, sound sacred tones with your voice, use whatever sound/instrument you are guided to do. The important thing is that we now need SOUND to help the restoration of BALANCE on the planet. This date is very important in world peace and carries a very high Spiritual energy. If you are called to join us , please make your Sacred Tones on this day and help us get this information out by sharing it with all you know as soon as possible. Jahn Starr can be reached at lightstarr00@... if you need more information.
Live in Latin America or the Caribbean and work for peace and justice !
VOLUNTARIOS SOLIDARIOS
* Join in efforts on behalf of the region¹s poor majority
* Develop ties with groups working for nonviolent social change
* Contribute to intercultural understanding and respect
* Immerse yourself in Latin culture
* Learn about the impact of U.S. culture and politics in the region
* Have fun!
A program of the Fellowship of Reconciliation Task Force on Latin
America and the Caribbean
VOLUNTARIOS SOLIDARIOS
Images of poverty, pollution and violence in Latin America and the
Caribbean are familiar. Less well known to us in North America are the
many and varied and endlessly creative efforts of those working at the
grassroots to overcome those problems and to build a new society rooted
in justice and peace.
Voluntarios Solidarios is a volunteer placement program
sponsored by the Fellowship of Reconciliation Task Force on Latin
America and the Caribbean, in concert with Latin American and Caribbean
organizations dedicated to achieving peace and racial and economic justice
through active nonviolence.
The aims of Voluntarios Solidarios are:
* to develop placements for U.S. volunteers in Latin America and the
Caribbean that provide concrete support for organizations working in
support of the region¹s poor majority;
* through these experiences, to offer to the volunteers opportunities for
their own education and intercultural exchange;
* to promote the exchange of experiences in organizing and action
between
popular movements in the North and the South;
* to develop personal and organizational contacts as a basis for ongoing
communication and collaboration;
* through the efforts and the actions of volunteers after their return to
the U.S., to increase public awareness here of the situation in Latin
America and the Caribbean and to support the struggles for justice and
peace in the region.
Who Is This For?
Voluntarios Solidarios is for anyone over the age of 21 who is
committed to working for justice and peace, wants to develop ties with
people and groups working for social change in Latin America and the
Caribbean, and is willing to work in a variety of volunteer capacities.
Volunteers may be activists with years of organizing experience who seek
an opportunity to live and work in Latin America or the Caribbean. Or
they may be young people who seek a cross cultural experience in the
context of social change organizing as part of their personal education and
explorations. A wide variety of others may also find what they are
looking for in that which makes Voluntarios Solidarios unique: its ability
to match North American volunteers with groups throughout Latin
American and the Caribbean that are involved in nonviolent social change
organizing work.
Who Would I Work With?
The Fellowship of Reconciliation, the sponsor of Voluntarios
Solidarios, works with groups throughout Latin America and the
Caribbean that are engaged in nonviolent education, documentation,
organizing and advocacy efforts, working with the region¹s poor majority.
A number of these groups have expressed interest in hosting North
American volunteers. These include groups in Nicaragua, Panama,
Ecuador, Chile, and Paraguay, among others.
A primary network of contacts is Servicio Paz y Justicia
(SERPAJ). Founded in 1971, SERPAJ has national chapters in ten Latin
American countries. It does education on peace and human rights and
community organizing. It also works with peasant groups, trade unions,
and others.
"So many of Latin America's problems have roots in the United States of
America that we need to form a solid, united movement, nonviolently
conceived and carried through, so that pressure can be brought to bear on
the capital and government power structures concerned, from both sides
of the problem at once. I think that may be the only hope for a nonviolent
solution in Latin America today; and one of the most powerful
expressions of nonviolence may come out of that international coalition of
socially aware forces, operating outside governmental frameworks..."
Martin Luther King, Jr., 1967
What Would I Do?
The work of volunteers will be shaped by the needs of the host
organization and worked out in a process of dialogue between the host
groups and the volunteers. Needs expressed by the Latin American
groups have included translation of publications and other
communications; supporting peace actions; technical assistance in skills
ranging from carpentry to computer operation to recycling; collaboration
in work with children, peasants and women; and sharing experiences and
methodologies in popular education and conflict resolution. In some
cases a volunteer's work will be focused in the capital or another city; in
other cases the volunteer may travel to other communities as part of the
host group¹s activities.
Time Period
Volunteer placements are from three months to two years, and are
scheduled in negotiation with the host group.
Cost
Volunteers are responsible to provide for their own costs including
travel to and from the region, food and lodging while there, and other
personal expenses. A $60 application fee will be charged when an
application is submitted. The program sponsors can provide some advice
on fundraising methods and resources. In some cases host organizations
can find inexpensive lodging for volunteers. Living costs for volunteers
in the region vary widely, from $75 a month to $500 a month, depending
on a variety of factors.
Qualifications & Application Process
Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, in reasonably good health
and able to function in Spanish or Portuguese. (Program sponsors can
advise volunteers on language study possibilities in the region.) They fill
out an application, submit references and engage in an interview with the
sponsoring groups. That process determines their suitability for
placement and with whom they may work.
The host organization makes the final decision about the
acceptance of the volunteer for work.
Pre-placement preparation and orientation will be provided. We
will also work with volunteers upon their return to the U.S. to help them
to share their experience and to undertake appropriate actions in their
communities.
The Fellowship of Reconciliation, an interfaith pacifist organization
founded in 1915, is rooted in a recognition of the essential unity of all
humanity and a commitment to explore the power of love and truth for
resolving human conflict. While it has always been vigorous in its
opposition to war, the Fellowship of Reconciliation has insisted equally
that this effort must be based on a commitment to the achieving of a just
and peaceful world community, with full dignity and freedom for every
human being.
Voluntarios Solidarios is an outgrowth of the U.S./Latin America
Exchange Program, which was initiated in 1984 by FOR-TFLAC and
RCNV.

Conversational Fluency
Requirements for Voluntarios Solidarios Program
All participants in the Voluntarios Solidarios program need to be
conversationally fluent in Spanish or Portuguese. What does this mean? We
want to make our expectations as explicit as possible so that those who do
not speak Spanish or Portuguese fluently can set specific goals for
themselves in language school, and make sure that their teacher covers all
the required material.
Conversational fluency is a difficult concept to describe, but in our minds,
this means that volunteers can go into the countryside, by themselves, and
function well. This is not the same as using broken Spanish/Portuguese to
make one's self understood. It means being able to converse easily in
Spanish or Portuguese, normally understanding what is being said the first
time, and responding in kind.
Specifically, the following should be learned while in language school:
1. Verb tenses: present, past, future, imperfect, subjunctive, conditional,
present perfect, past perfect, and future perfect.
2. A good working vocabulary.
3. Understanding when to use "ser" versus "estar".
4. Formal commands.
5. Prepositions.
6. Adjectives, making them agree with the noun's gender and number.
7. Use of reflexive verbs.
8. Conversational use of the subjunctive.
This list is hardly exhaustive, but it gives the basic skills necessary to
attain conversational fluency. Translation skills are frequently important
for work in Voluntarios Solidarios.
In our experience, it requires a minimum of three to four months to achieve
conversational fluency. To do so, it is necessary to make a commitment to
speak Spanish or Portuguese at all times. Not speaking English will
definitely be stressful at times. Often the student will wish to use
English to express intimate feelings and complex ideas. It will be far
easier to refrain from using English while completely focused on studying
than it will be under the stressful conditions you are likely to encounter
when working and travelling in Latin America.
If you have any questions about our language expectations, please contact
the TFLAC office: (415) 495-6334.

FUNDRAISING IDEAS
Don¹t let lack of funds keep you from participating in a program that you
really want to be a part of. There are a lot of ways to get financial
support, even if your own bank account is small or non-existent. At FOR,
we¹ve seen many young people raise up to $2500 from their local community to
pay the costs of participating in one of our programs. We¹re convinced
that, with determination, you can raise part or all of the money that you
need for an FOR youth Program.
Hands for Volunteers tries to find funding for volunteers that have commited
to at least six months service with a charitable organization and would be
happy to work with volunteers to seek funding. They recommend checking out
their web-site to sign up, and they can take it from there. If tiy don't
have Internet access, they will also find a way to work with you.
www.HandsFor.org Address: 231 E. 65th St., Kansas City, MO 64113. Tel:
816-363-4340.
Local Sponsorship: Approach local congregations or groups that may wish to
help sponsor you. Offering to provide a slide show or presentation about
your program or trip after you return will help them feel that they are
directly involved and will also benefit from your experience.
Well-established groups might be approached for $50-100. For others, $25
may be more reasonable.
The following groups have helped sponsor participants in FOR youth programs
in the past. This list may help you think of groups in your own community
to ask for support.
Individual congregations Knights of Columbus General Conference
of Mennonite Church
Church youth groups 4-H Episcopal Diocese of CT and NY
Rotary clubs US Forest Service Tennessee Presbytery
Kiwaris Church Women¹s groups Pittsburgh Peace Institute
Lions Club Peace Link Peace Academy
Elks Clubs United Auto Workers Local businesses
Letters: Write a letter to your friends, relatives and acquaintances,
describing the program that you¹re interested in, why it is an important
opportunity for young people, and why you want to participate. Ask them to
support you by sending a contribution. If they make their checks out to
FOR, their gift will be tax-deductible. Please check with our office before
you do this, however.) Karl (Pennsylvania) sent 130 letters to friends and
relatives before a trip to the USSR. They brought in over $1000.
Other ideas:
Suzanne (Pennsylvania) and David (Ohio) applied for grants. Suzanne got
$1000 from her denominational "Peace Academy" and David received $1000 from
a local Youth Foundation.
Jennifer (New York) got her local McDonald¹s into the act, and sold
McDonald¹s coupons, having arranged to keep a portion of the money she
received
Richard (California) held a party, talked about FOR¹s Youth Quest, and asked
for contributions. He also put an ad in a local peace newsletter.
Kirk¹s (Indiana) church raised over $1500 for his trip to the USSR, through
a special offering, and the efforts of its youth group.
Tim (Kentucky) got friends to donate items for a garage sale, and raised
$300.
Tony (Ohio) got his church youth group to help with a car wash. They got
pledges for each car washed and raised $1100.
Suzanne¹s (Colorado) church youth group organized a church breakfast and her
youth group ministers put on a dance. Suzanne also sent letters to friends
in Colorado, and altogether, raised $2300.
Denese (Ohio ) raised $900 by asking local groups, including her father¹s
union, churches, doctors and friends.
Jennifer (Pennsylvania) held a "Feast for Peace" fundraising dinner.
Nora (New York) asked her local FOR group to sponsor a raffle, which raised
$600
Tony and Sarah (Minnesota) got sever hundred dollars from the Student Senate
at their University.
From FOR¹s Peacemakers Training Instiute.

If your orgaization is interested in using this services, please call me at 211-3482. Since each session is 1:1 it is necessary to have specific time slots. Also I don't know what the response will be to this offer so I don't know how the sessions will be organized in term of frequency etc. I hope it will be a simple and clear process, once I have an idea of the interest level. Below is more information about Reiki and me.
"The Usui system of Reiki Healing is a hand-on healing art. It can enliven your sense of well-being, promote relaxation, reduce stress, alleviate pain and restore balance, harmony, and peace"(Reiki Master, Linda Keiser Mardis, my teacher)
